Visalia NJB offers a balance of instructional and competitive basketball for youth grades K-8.  

In our Rookie Division (grades K - 1st), teams will have practice for 20-25 minutes leading up to 35 minutes of scrimmage with rotational substitution for balanced playing time.  Division 4 (2nd grade only) will have even more practice time followed by a scrimmage.  Practices outside of the Sunday afternoon practice/scrimmage are at the discretion of the coach and parents of the team members.  

In Divisions 1 thru 3 most teams have at least one and sometimes two outside practices per week and play a game on Sunday afternoons.  Team records are used to determine seedings for a double elimination tournament in late February.  Games consist of 5 8 minute periods where every player gets two periods minimum on the floor.  The fifth period is played with free substitution by the coach.  

The headquarters for NJB is in Anaheim California and they coordinate an All-star tourney program that we particpate in during March and April.  There are qualifying tournaments in the Central Valley  that can lead to additional tournaments in Southern CA.  There are also many travelling teams that continue play thru the summer comprised of NJB players and coaches.
